The Thermo Door lets you experience the full joy of working with food and fire. Once you put the Thermo Door on your Outdoor Oven, you can go low and slow and bake beautiful bread or slow-cook some delicious fish, veggies, or meat. Not only does it allow you to keep the heat in, but you can also better control the temperature of the baking compartment. This is ideal for those times when you need to bake food for a longer time, or at a more consistent temperature. On the top of every outdoor oven, there is a little hook where you can hang the Thermo Door. In doing so, the door closes the mouth of the oven which activates the hidden chimney system inside the oven. The hot air will still pass over the food, but instead of escaping the oven through the door, it will go up and over the top stone and then leave the oven through the two holes pierced in the backside of the oven. Since this door is designed to use when baking food for a longer time and at a lower temperature, it is best not to fully close the front of the oven when baking pizza but to instead put the door in its second position. Composition The Thermo Door will be delivered to you in a cardboard box that contains all four parts needed to assemble it:
- the corten steel Thermo Door
- the corten steel handle
- the Städler made thermometer
- the attachment ring for the thermometer
Details Never put on the door for the first 20 minutes of starting up your oven: at this point, the fire needs as much drag as possible and putting on any of the doors will cause the fire to smoke a lot. This smoke would then stain the glass of your thermometer.
