Gin 1689 It begins in 1689 when William III of Orange travels from the Netherlands to London and brings a gin with him. The founders embarked on the same adventure as William III, namely to make the 1689 gin a hit again. After an 18-month search, they found rare books in the British Library containing one of the first gin recipes. All the ingredients were neatly described, but the quantities were given in code. The authors of the book had encrypted the recipe to ensure that only their own members could reproduce it. On their return to the Netherlands, they enlisted the help of one of the oldest and most experienced Dutch distilleries to reproduce the gin using the 1689 list of ingredients and their centuries of expertise. The result was 1689 London Dry Gin.
