Experience the profound elegance of Bodegas Ontañón Queirón de Gabriel Reserva 2011 D.O. Queirón, a tribute to founder Gabriel Pérez.
This exceptional Rioja Reserva is a blend of idyllic Tempranillo from La Pasada and profound Graciano from El Pozo, two iconic high-altitude vineyards (up to 790 meters) in Quel. It displays a deep color layer with red cherry nuances and iridescent ruby highlights, indicative of its age and maturity. The nose offers a powerful aromatic intensity and complex bouquet, featuring spicy tones, coffee, figs, and coconut, a result of its extensive aging in Allier and Tronçais barriques. Hints of black fruit, truffles, and undergrowth evoke an autumnal mountain landscape, while notes of pastry and compote fruit provide a balsamic and mineral backdrop, expressing the maximum terroir expression. On the palate, it has an elegant and integrated tannin structure, with a very forward yet pleasant attack, resulting in a balanced, very long, and very fleshy wine.
The 2011 vintage was rated "Excellent" by the Control Board of Rioja. After fermentation, the wine matures for 24 months in new French (70%) and American (30%) oak barrels, followed by 36 months in bottle in the winery's underground cellar. Ideal with wild game.
