Discover the soulful Bodegas Ontañón Queirón Mi Lugar 2019 D.O. Queirón, a tribute to Quel, the wine's deeply traditional hometown in Rioja.
This wine, a "Vino de Pueblo" (village wine), is a meticulous selection of the best Tempranillo (90%) and Garnacha (10%) grapes from five tiny, high-altitude parcels (over 600 meters) in the Cidacos Valley, including El Poeta, La Bartola, La Perdida, El Arenal, and Hoyo Judío. It displays an intense ruby-red color with a cherry-red rim. The nose offers powerful aromas of ripe black fruit like blueberries and cassis, intertwined with subtle spicy notes of coffee and truffle. The complex bouquet of balsamic and mineral tones truly expresses its unique terroir. On the palate, it has a beautiful, round mouthfeel with a lively yet balanced finish that ends with a velvety smoothness, achieving perfect harmony between acidity and tannins. The wine undergoes extensive pre-fermentation maceration, then prolonged maceration (over 18 days), followed by 18 months of aging in new French and American oak barrels, and a further 6 months in large foudres before bottling.
This wine is an ideal pairing for wild game and other meat dishes.
