In 1818, Madame Clicquot invented the first ever famous blended Rosé Champagne that you can enjoy and share today for its vibrancy and burst of fruit. To create this beautiful, coppery champagne, the blend is an essential element. The cellar master and his team of experts select high-quality red wines and non-sparkling wines from some of Champagne's most sought-after vineyards to find the flavours and characteristics that perfectly express the style of Veuve Clicquot Rosé.
The cuvée is made with 50 to 60 different crus, and 30 to 45% reserve wines, and is based on the traditional Yellow Label blend: the predominant proportion of Pinot Noir (50-55%) provides the structure so typical of Veuve Clicquot, while Chardonnay (28-33%) adds the elegance and finesse essential for a perfectly balanced wine, and a touch of Meunier (15-20%) rounds out the blend.
The blend is then complemented by 12% non-sparkling red wine from red grapes, which provides fruitiness. The long aging in the cellars (minimum 3 years for Rosé) makes the Champagne silky smooth.
