The Seki Magoroku Combination Whetstone is designed for high-precision, traditional sharpening. Soak the whetstone in water until no air bubbles appear, and keep the stone wet throughout the sharpening process. Place the whetstone on a dedicated stand or a wet cloth to prevent movement. Sharpening Method: Hold the knife at a constant angle to the stone and use the full length of the whetstone. For double-bevel knives, the angle should be about 15 degrees. For single-bevel knives, the angle should be maintained as shown in the instructions. Use light force, enough only to carry the weight of the arm without exerting too much pressure. Once burrs appear on one side, sharpen the other side until burrs appear. Remove burrs by gently rubbing both sides of the blade on spread newspaper. The stone's surface should be flattened periodically using a flattening stone to ensure accurate sharpening.
